Default Shift correction kit

Has anyone put a shift correction kit from Shift Technology Products into a 46re. Does it work, and how difficult/time does it take. I purchased one for my 97 Ram. Fixing to start it tomorrow, instructions seem fairly simple.

I have not used Shift Technologies but have used the Sonnax Sure Cure. Shift Technologies is considerably cheaper so I suspect it lasks some of the components in the Sonnax kit. The Sonnax works great!

Default Job completed

Ok, yesterday I installed the shift correction kit, and pressure seilinoid Time took a leisurely 4.5 hours. The hardest part was taking the entire valve body out and putting it back in. Here is my differences before and after.

Before: with low/moderated pedal pressure

Shift from 1-2 @ 25mph very hard shift
Shift from 2-3 @ 45-50 mph hard shift
75% of the time it would shift back into 2 again then 3 again.
Shift from 3-4-OD 55mph

Also would have to wait sometimes at startup to allow trans to engage into rev or drive.

After installation: with low/ moderated pedal pressure

Shift from 1-2 @ 15 mph. Firm shift
Shift from 2-3 @ 30-35 mph firm shift
Shift from 3-4-OD @ 45-50 mph firm shifts

I did go all out throttle and it seems to shift harder the more your on the gas, of course the shift points change as well. 3-4 @ 70 mph.

All other problems have been corrected.

I do recommend this to anyone with a 46re crapmission.

Good to know. Shifting form hard to firm is good. When you are on the throttle hard, you are engaging the TV, which boosts pressure and will cause harder shift - so that is OK!

Good job.

Did you take photos during the process? I'd like to see what is in the kit to compare. As mentione, I installed the SOnnax, modified one spoool, and alter holes in body to increase presures.

Hey, don't go posting links of a thread you started in a completely unrelated topic: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2871493-post8138.html

It's a great way to get off on the wrong foot with people on this forum.

I took pics while disassembling the VB just for reference for reassemble. The kit basically replaced about 4 springs, replaced main valve, cut exhaust port in main valve bore, grind valve stem of throttle valve to specs, replace 2-3 and 3-4 spring, enlarge about 6 holes in separator plate, adjust pressure regulator, and replace accumulator rings.

I have seen various kits, most seem the same with slight differences. This kit cost around $56.00

This is the original post for " What did you do to your Ram today" It says if you did a separate thread, post a link to it.

I was tempted to try that kit, but could not find anyone that tried it and was happy with it. I almost bought it as it is about half the cost of the Sonnax kit. Glad it works well!
