Before ya'll flame, I do KNOW there is a RamCharger Section, but it appears to be heavily avoided.....

Anyways.

Asking this question for my father in law, he has a 1988 RamCharger with a 318/727 Auto 4x4.

Apparently his gas tank will swell to around the size of a 55 gallon drum. I'd guess that gas is evaporating in the tank and not escaping, or something like that.

Any ideas on what to check or where to begin?

there is a vent line the same size as a brake line leaving the tank. it is possible that it is clogged by rust or something. could leave the gas cap off until he gets around to looking at it. could also be a bad charcoal canister or something related to that.
