I need more specific tow ratings. 4x2 5.2 manual 3.21 axle
Most of the Dodge's you'll find will have the 3.55 gears. Kind of ironic you found one with a 3.21 as they weren't very common. The next step up from the factory is 3.92's and then 4.10's. 3.92's or 4.10's would be the most desirable factory gear for towing, then the 3.55's. There's a sticker under the hood that will tell you what gear is in the truck; also a tag on the rear itself. Happy hunting

Also here is the link to that truck and yes It is a 3.21 according to the sticker under the hood. It would be a sweet truck to have if you never had to tow anything. First gear was the perfect size to leave it in for a near stop and it spun 1500 rpm at 60

IMO, deducting weight for manual trannys is BS. They're stronger, the dealers just didn't want to put up with idiots who don't know how to use a clutch. FWIW, in the Dakotas, the manuals did have a higher rating than the autos.
IMO, 1st is low enough that it shouldn't be a problem and with the taller gears, towing in 4th gear should be at a more comfortable RPM.

Axle ratio is showing to be the dominant factor.
the feel for the driver and rpm is good in low gears but with a tall axle ratio it is bad on the drivetrain, hence the dramatically lower tow numbers when the axle ratio drops and towing not recomended with the 3.21.

My truck came with 3.21s from the factory, its an auto, they suck, but we havnt have any problems any of the times weve had to tow, which isnt often, but still no problems. Really want to go up to 3.92s at some point, but thats not gonna be any time soon.
