Very nice. After I went down to 35s from 38s I kind of want 37 and the sport front end now. Thats a nice truck.

 

Thanks, i'm looking to swap down to 35s with all terrain tread because these mud terrain are killers of gas mileage and ride comfort on regular roads. Apparently like most others here, its a process to "make it yours" and i've only had it a couple weeks so theres plenty of time (and questions lol).

What gears are in the axles? And don't expect that 8.0 to EVER get anything even remotely resembling 'good' gas mileage. It's just a thirsty beast, and if you break into double digits, you are lucky.

 

Im not sure about the gears, im assuming it still has the stock 3.55 gears. I know it wont ever be "good" mileage, but im sure with the right type of tires, i can get a better ride and more than the 5.5 mpg im getting now. I've seen a few on here talk of 10mpg which i would be ok with as long as i get a relatively smoother ride.

 

Right now I am averaging 7.5mpg with 35s, 4.10s, and a cam. I want to go to 4.88s for pulling power but that may have to wait a while.

 

I have 4.56 gears, and 33's. In my opinion, it's too much gear for the tire size, and I think 35's would be just about perfect. (rpm run way to high when towing on the freeway.... or even just around the country roads here.....) with low (numerically) gears, and large tires, yeah, that's gonna beat the crap out of your gas mileage. (I refuse to call it 'fuel economy', as these trucks aren't even remotely 'economical'. )

With the lift you have on your truck, 35's may seem 'small'. Re-gearing ain't cheap, but, I expect it would bump your gas mileage some, (couple points anyway) but, wouldn't change the ride at all. Maybe better shocks would help?

 

I have to make adjustment to the current lift because it wasnt done properly. Right now, the rear lift has 3" spring blocks and RideRite air ride, The airbags have to be inflated nearly at max to keep the truck level (because of the 6" front), which in turn, makes the rear feel like its riding on concrete wheels because its not actually using the springs/shocks like it should. That combined with the mud-terrain super swamper tires, just compounds the ride issues. In order to drop the airbags and use the springs/shocks correctly to make the ride better, i have to lower the front by taking out the 2" coil spacers and changing to the proper shocks because the current front shocks are for an 8" lift and only have 3" of travel before they bottom out (which i suspect is the reason for the spacers to begin with because they're cheaper than buying the right shocks). I dont know who did all this work, but it appears that they just used whatever they could find on ebay and craigslist to slap it together. I already ordered the tires, but they are on back order and shipping November 7, 35x12.5-16 Yokohama Geolander X-ATs. Once i get the new tires on, then i'll start working on correcting the suspension issues.

If you want it that height do a shackle flip in the rear (which will help the ride and you won't have to use the bags unless loaded) and diesel 6" springs in the front.
