Seeking a Backup Truck

The greaser working at 1/20th of its maximum capacity will suffer little wear and so last essentially forever. That's the sense in owning it.
Thanks to you I get to wake up with a hangover at 3:30AM. Putz.

Needed paint and tranny rebuild at 140K? Sheeez.....I put 200K on a 99 Silverado, in the New Mexico sun....and it still had good paint and tranny was solid when I sold it.
Is that like, "Happy, Happy?"

maybe someone keyed it? few dents to get out? never know...
could be like early 2nd gen dodges where the OEM paint was absolute garbage and peeled right off all on its own...

Don't know if it "needed" paint and trans work or not, just that it was done and that was a selling point for me. The dash is not cracked and the clearcoat is not peeling off. Got 14.5 mpg on the first tank. Overall a decent running/looking truck for 3 grand.

I like my ol 87 Chev S10 2.5L 4-spd with late 2nd gen rear axle (disc brakes + posi)
got a 5-spd trans for it...just haven't gotten around to swapping it out yet. Oughta bump the fuel economy up on it giving it overdrive. the 4spd is a good trans, but the 4.10 gears are killin its top speed and freeway cruise RPM...desperately needs overdrive to lower cruise RPMs.
If I ever get around to either converting to a built v8 or a tuned 4BT, I'll change the rear axle to a 3.43 posi 4-link.

here you go VW...
if you need a reason for having a cummins diesel...

that truck is same year as mine... 1.7 MILLION MILES! and counting!
never been rebuilt, never had the internals of the motor touched, and it tows every day of its life. These motors are unstoppable with proper maintenance. they just don't wear out. Long as a catastrophe does not happen like bad wreck or something...I will likely transplant this engine into another truck whenever my dodge falls apart too much around it. no reason to ever get rid of the motor.
