Oh, it wouldn't be used for a backup. All I said is that it's (a) tempting (purchase).

I'd rather have the hookers & blow that are stashed in the cargo box.

My diesel mechanic brother says the same thing I do -- unless it's going to get worked, don't buy a diesel.

lol think you both are just afraid of having an engine that will last longer than you will.

unless its a 6.7L driving easy on a cummins will never hurt it.

americans are so miss informed and ignorant about diesels its ridiculous.

there is a reason 50% of the cars on the road in europe are diesel. they last longer, less maintenance, and they get superior fuel mileage that gasoline couldn't ever dream of catching up to. even gasolines best chance of catching up, the prius hybrid still comes up short to the TDI jettas mileage without all the silly batteries, goofy looks, and electric motors.

I'm not scared nor misinformed about owning a diesel. If I had my druthers, I'd be driving a late-60s/early-70s Mercedes Benz diesel. Those thing are barely broken in at 200k miles.

The VW TDI is nothing to sneeze at, either.

Overall, it wouldn't benefit me to own a diesel truck, especially the Ford 6-liter PowerJokes. They require a lot of regular maintenance.
