BAD cl experience. SOOOO PISSED!
Dude, I have no sympathy for you. He wanted his asking price. What's wrong with that? You shoulda just forked over the extra $20...
EDIT: Nvm, I didn't realize he was being dishonest in the posting. That sucks. But don't give up on craigslist, there are always deals to be had. Can't win 'em all...

i was also telling him a bunch of info that he needed to know about his truck.
he kept complaining that it had no *****. told him to fix his plenum, replace his cat, and timing chain and he would see the power back. didnt care to either understand or believe me, not sure.
yeah he also spelled extra wrong(erxtra), and since when did 98-02 quad cab steps come to fit a 96-03? guy needs to learn his stuff.
First, did you point out they were incomplete? If not, then that's probably why he didn't budge from the price.
Second, I disagree with people saying to negotiate the price via e-mail before actually looking at the item. Pictures aren't going to tell the whole story, and if I have something listed I'm not willing to negotiate unless the buyer is actually looking at it.
Third, if "you can buy brand new running boards for not much more than what he was asking! " then suck it up and spend the money for a new set.
Fourth -- you drove 100 miles, were denied, and now you're making it your mission to get these? See #1 and #3. You're wasting more time, money, and resources to scores these turds than if you would buy a new set.
And when you show up he can tell you to go get f_ucked. Your problem is you're just dead set on buying this particular set of running boards. He's got you by your sack and therefore you're going to cave long before he will.

i dont want a "new" set of running boards, i want these particular running boards because they are factory, and i already have all the hardware still on my truck.
these were also in A LOT worse shape than the ones i originally had on my truck.
they guy was just a stuck up snob, period!
furthermore, i rethought my emailing him again scheme and have decided against it. ill find them again, im sure, either that, or this dip **** will email me back and say i can have them. which i will then politely tell him to get bent, unless he drives the 50 miles one way to bring them to me on a silver platter.
If I were you I'd pass on them. I can empathize with your frustration; however, my dad always told me that when a deal falls through to just accept it and move on. Most times, something better will come along and you'll be happier. Also, if he's charging too much for his product then he's either going to (1) never sell it or, (2) find someone else who'll bend over and pay.
It could have been worse. He could have sold them while waiting for you to arrive, and that's real douchebaggery on the part of the seller.
