318 to 360 swap is done
Ok i just wanted to let everyone know the turn out of a 318 to 360 swap my truck is a 01 quad cab 5 spd 4x4. I just finished my swap I bought a 360 and done a complete rebuild on it and bought a 360 fly wheel and harmonic balancer came with the motor it was as simple as just swapping motors. The 360 is running perfect on the 318 ECM my mechanic hooked it up to his computer and said every thing is hitting just like it should. All you need is the 360 motor with harmonic balancer (mine came with the motor) and a 360 flywheel (I picked mine up at a junk yard for 25 bucks) if you have a automatic you will need the 360 flex plate or torque converter not sure which they put the weights on for the autos. My motor was out of a 99 and they changed the plugs on the injectors in 2000 so in order to use the 360 injectors that came with the motor I ordered a set of plug adapters from Hughesengines.com everything else was a direct bolt up and plug up swap. Some people will say it's not worth the trouble for such a small power gain but I will tell you it's worth every bit of it. It's not a race car but there is not a hill where I live that it won't pull in 5th gear where before I would have to down shift to 4th. I hope this helps everyone out that is looking to do this swap. I just wanted to post my results because when I was looking into it I found a bunch of articles about if it can be done but very little about actual results.

My 318 was tired, weak, and low on compression so the mileage on it was around 11 mpg. every other 318 I have had was around 15 city 19 hwy. I have out a few hundred mile on the 360 and I am figuring at around 14.7 mpg city. have not had it on the road yet so not sure on that but would imagine it to be around 18 to 19at this time
