Yea somehow boots have become the international symbol of being a redneck... Ive worn boots all of my life and actually find them to be more comfortable than sneakers... But I of course am always doing something that requires me to need the boots.. Does this make me a redneck?? I dont drive a cummins... yet.....
Most around here wear turd-kickers (cowboy boots), with their pants all bunched around the tops. Either that or pull-on wellingtons that are all muddy, oily and look like crap.
I wear construction boots that are steel toe and have a cushy insole. And that's only if it's cold outside or I am going to my grandparent's place.
Then you would really like to meet these guys.. They even fly a confederate flag with REDNECK written across it off the back of their trucks... Wanna come visit lol
We have those here too, and yes I do want to come visit, we still need to go riding, and I would like to see my buddy Colin who lives in your town.

I lived close enough to East Tx for 2 years. Shreveport sucked! I know the type you are talking about for sure.

Around here, turd-kicker boots have always been common because this is one of those parts of the world where real working cowboys are found. We didn't used to have any rednecks at all, but then the energy extraction boom started up and they all flooded north for the work. Ain't nuthin' funnier than a guy who's never rode a horse pretending to be a cowboy in a place that's full of them.
"How many head o' horse you got?"
"Huh?"
"I'm just curious how many head o' horse you got."
"None. Are you making fun of me?"
"Well no sir, I ain't. That feller drove up in your truck seems to be, though."

I went to High School here in Grayson County, and boots where the "redneck" thing from Fries, Va.
But I completely agree, they are much more comfortable then sneakers.
