1) This treaty regulates private firearms-not government owned firearms and turns authority over to the U.N. to regulate. 2) Obama himself asked to restart the treaty process, so yeah, he is all in. Pulling out of the negotiations in July was just a political move to not rile up gun owners in an election year. 3) You need to read the treaty-I have read several pages of the initial draft. It states that it is aimed at regulating the CIVILIAN arms trade.

And last, but not least, if you think the government using taxes, regulations and the IRS with the threat of jail to force every citizen to get health insurance, be it through private companies or not, isn't socialist, then us having this pleasant conversation is pointless. And lastly, if you think that it will cost a few pennies to cover employees, I wish you good day. And will walk away as friends and agree to disagree.

p.s. I'm trying to talk the wife into the Viper blue two-stripes from hood to tailgate. She ain't sold on it...yet.

All I read: its okay for the govt to redistribute a man's earnings..

It used to be a free country... Used to be if a man wanted more money, all he had to do is work for it.. used to be if a man wanted to make it big, all he had to do is risk it big.. now the govt is standing there with their hand out as if they've earned it as well, and as if they shared that risk..

I'm not talking big business.. I'm talking mom and pop.. big business is in bed with govt.. the largest got tax returns last year.. they paid notta.. they lobby legislation to make the environment more productive still, and knock out mom and pops daily.. in effort to be the last sword toting highlander or some shizen, who knows.. they sit at the oligarchy table and smuggly laugh at the working stiffs who are stupid enough to believe their union is there to protect them..

Yeah, I'm done hacking about it too, and likely just need to get in line for the handouts all you people defend so much..

My last word on this subject:

"A government large enough to give you everything you need is also large enough to take everything you have." Thomas Jefferson

Being a Tru Blue Progressive, I take no offense to the strip. It was copied from the Mopar 11, but I'm OK with that.

My last comment will be that redistribution, whether up or down, is equally unjust. Exxon getting a $40 Million tax refund after paying NO income tax, is redistibtion from "We the People" to the corporations. But the rhetoric that redistribution implies seems to only be in one direction. Why do we as a society concern ourselves that unionized workers make more, but not that banksters on Wall Street collapse our economy for their own wealth?

No political party represents "We the People" any longer. The Green Party might, but they will never gain the prominance in our system, and if they did, corporate and wealthy interests would corrupt it as well.

We should all focus now on putting pressure on all politicains, at all levels, to do waht is best for all of us. Fair trade policies over "free trade" that sent manufacturing overseas.

Agreed.. both major parties are corrupt to the core.. there is not a single soul in national politics that stands for the wants and needs of their constituents/district they supposedly represent.. they pander to the party instead.. I guess I sound right wing, and maybe I am on some topics, but I'm left on some too, just none we cover..

As a young marine, I was taught and taught well that indecisiveness gets you killed at worst, loses your leadership at best.. we need decisive leaders now who aren't afraid to present, in its entirety, a plan that is fair AND JUST.. and then have the ***** to see it through.. we get a lot of salesmanship instead, and no follow through.. coming out of an election period, it is clearly evident.. in a few more weeks, we'll be back to not caring about what 'they' are doing, so long as they don't impede our lives.. 'they' are banking on that..
