my 700k km 5.9 magnum's story
To start, I don't know the full story on the truck, just from 630000 ish on. It started its life as a BC highways truck. I think so anyway lol. Its our highway truck colors (cat yellow with a white roof.) It has a top alert light mount and a radio mount (company truck radio type of one.)
To start, iI was driving a 91 ford f 150 for under a year in 2010-2011, and it was the biggest piece of human made garbage I have ever owned! I dumped $1200 into it in less than a year. And I don't mean mechanics bills either. I get good deals on my new parts through my company and i also bought junkyard stuff.
I was talking to my dad one day and he told me about the 98 dodge he bought. It was high miles, and no oil pressure. So I think about our talk the next day and decide, damnit I want that truck! I call him and ask more about it. It has 524k on the clock, its yellow, a back door doesn't work and it runs. I ask him how much he wants, he tells me "I don't want your money son, how about you give me that ford and your Chevy tuck box." "Done!" I say.
Now on the paper work from the 2nd to last owner it said 630000 km which since it was a fleet truck would have cotologed miles on it.
The next weekend I load op an 8' box on a short box ford and drive 4 1/2 hours to get my dodge. I changed the oil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I and i used a jug of Lucas in it to help the old girl.
When I stopped a gas station to fuel up, I noticed a knock above 2500 rpm,i decide to press on and I think well I'll just be real nice to it. Then I noticed the fact that I had no oil pressure at idle ..... great.
I get it home and the next weekend I drop the oil pan and change the oil pump, and I put 2 jugs of Lucas in it. And I haven't touched the internals since. I have put about 50k km on it in the last year. It knocks above 2500 rpm, detonates, blows blue smoke when cold but it keeps running and none of it has gotten any worse!
I towed a car for 4 1/2 hours through mountainous country 6 months ago without a problem. And recently I went on a trip of 5 hours and the idler pulley ceased, spat the belt and left me stuck on the side of a busy highway in a bad spot. I had my daughter in it and I was kind of freaking because nobody was slowing down at all. Screw It I think to myself, I'm firing it up to get to the next exit. So I do this. I ran it 10 km at a time, exit to exit and got to my destination. And it got hot!. Next day I get the parts I need and start it. And it PUKES blue smoke, then it clears and it clears and runs fine. Then I drove it home and have been driving it since.
I use 2 quarts of lucas oil every change. It runs like a hot damn with lots of power when its cool then drops a bit of power and does its detonation and knocking, but it just....keeps....running.
I just thought you guys would like to hear this story of a dodge that won't die. I'll post some pictures when I figure it out.
EDIT: made it somewhat easier to read, sorry guys

No, sorry no question. Is this section only for questions about these trucks? I was just sharing my story on a ram that won't die. To add, the reliability of this beast prompted my next purchase, a 99 Durango with the 5.9 magnum
Took me a couple of reads to figure out "he's" is hours.

they will take a beating thats for sure. I once drove one with a broken crank, now its got a one peice crank and it wont run worth a damn though. i shouldve keep the motor with the broken crank in it and it would maybe still be driving.
