of course there are hills! Mt. Washington is the largest up this way, at over 1 miles high.
My driveway is higher than Mt. Washington!
There are places right here in the town where I live where a pickup cannot go in wintry conditions without significant weight in the bed and/or 4WD. It's a mite rougher outside of town.
I really don't have too much of a problem with snow while in 2wd. Even with the plow on. Don't put any weight in the back either. But then the plow only weighs in at 400lbs.
i put about about 300lbs of sand bags right by the tailgate. i usually keep 100 of that 300lbs on the passenger side of the box to counteract things like the gas tank.
My truck handles great in wintery conditions. I throw about 200lbs in the bed for the heck of it. I had a reg. cab short bed ram and it didnt do quite as well as the ext. cab short bed.
I have never put weight in the bed of my truck in the winter, always use 2WD too. I have only had to lock it in 4WD 3 times in the snow, every time I was offroad and had come to a complete stop and it just needed a little help to get moving again.
My brother who has owned an 01 S10, 03 Sierra, and currently an 06 F-150 all 4x4 says my Ram is by far the best in the snow out of all of the trucks he's had.
