RAM Performance in snow?
I've owned my 99 RAM1500 Laramie 4x4 for 6 months now, and winter is setting in where I live in Ky. I just want to know how my stock truck is going to run in about 4-6" of snow maximum. Anybody with experience in similar conditions please tell me how your rides handle!
Truck will do fine in 4-6" of snow provided: 1) your tires are not bald, and most importantly 2) you know how to drive in the snow. Some on here add weight to the bed as well to help keep the a$$ planted.
drive slowly! i throw 300-400 pounds in the bed of my truck to offset the weight of my plow. before i started plowing with it, i had wicked bald tires, and could still drive around in 2wd in snow. guess us New Englanders just know how to drive hahaha! seriously though. drive smart, and it will do great! i couldnt have thought up a beter handling truck for the snow, than dodge!

I think when the snow hits if I try to back out of the driveway as I normally would the rear would break free and slide a$$ first down the hill....
I put a ShurTrax in the bed of my truck to add about 400 pounds and avoid, as much as possible, nasty surprises. Anything that provides dead weight is fine, but it should be anchored so it can't fly around in a wreck and hurt people.
The Ram does okay with that much weight in the bed. Without it I'd have trouble -- I've got to drive at least a hundred miles to find flat ground and straight roads.

i have plenty of steep grades that i can drive up in 2wd without any weight. just gotta know where to put the throttle, and how much throttle to give at any point.
