think your idea of triplets is a bit off lol...

triplets are usually 3 identical turbos or 2 identical on top with 1 slightly larger (not significantly larger) on the bottom.

top 2 pull in fresh air and Y into the bottom to re-compress the charge.

whole point is for even faster spool than twins because you don't have a large charger to get moving anymore, and you are still getting the rough if not liberal 2:1 ratio for compounds.

carl ran triple he351ve's (VGTs) on his truck for a while and it was pretty sick!

I wish I had his setup now...its ridiculous!

hes running large compounds AND a supercharger...he's also a p-pumped 24v with 6x18s and has a cam, springs, rings, etc.. his last charger idled at 5psi, think his new one is idling at 8psi lol.

says he ran 13s in the 1/4 without a boosted launch on his old mach 7 injectors.

i vote for the 3rd gen. the power goal your looking for can be done pretty cheap and still be reliable with a CR...get your self an 06+ get Efi live and a better than stock turbo to keep it cool and you can be there. people have made almost 600hp on a COMPLETELY stock truck with efi live tunes. not that thats relaible. im sure they will melt down. but with some extra air. and supporting fuel mods it would be alot better. Of course youll need the tranny to support the power. the worst expenses for CRs will be the tranny(if its an auto) and injectors.. everything else doesnt seem to bad compared to those things. but with your power goal. itll be easy and relatively cheap to get there.

I vote for a 1st gen. I bought mine, which is an extremely nice truck in great shape, for 8k. It has already been modded with h1c-h3tb compounds and a head built to be reliable with heavy boost. So that leaves 17 grand left over in the budget for comic books and bubble gum.

Jig you may be right about the stock 12mm ve pumps but with a 14mm piston they are good for some big power.
