depends on the tire really...I have close to 1100tq at the rears and can light up my 315s on dry pavement from a rolling start which is hard to do with the tire I run as it is very sticky. it likes to hook and go, not spin.. with a cheaper AT tire just a wiretap fueling box on a vp can do it. which puts you at 800+tq at the wheels. if you power brake it you can do it with a fueling box as well.

CR should be able to do it with a programmer no sweat. 800tq or higher will do it no prob.

on my old tires I had my truck walkin sideways in 5th on the freeway

What is this catastrophic lift pump failure I hear about?

where to start here....

CP3's fail too, but more often the injectors fail (cracked tips) on common rails. injectors for a CR cost more to replace than replacing a VP44.

and it is scary when a CR injector fails as if the crack is big enough it can actually melt down the cylinder because it will have 100% uncontrolled and unlimited fueling in that cylinder.

as for the first gen vote...marks truck is likely at the goal HP but it is maxed out at that power...a VE pump can only fuel to about 450hp maxed out with injectors... ve pumps were never known for big power. he could convert to p7100 though and make big power..

i understand all that, was talking in basic terms for everyone to understand, but when comes down to it, the cr has far less troubles, i own all generations and have modified every one of them, and i fix/modify just about everyone of the trucks in the area too,

its good to have another knowledgeable diesel guy here, hopefull you can stick around and give me some support, the diesel guys and good knowledge of them is hard to come by here

what is this plenum problem I hear about?

110mph. limited by gearing....I HATE 4.10s... I'll take 3.55s over 4.10 any day.

110mph = redline in 6th. we only have 3200RPM to work with unless we upgrade valve springs and push rods, and get a 4k fueling box, then we can rev to 4k which would yield higher top speeds.

I have no trouble getting to the rev limiter though. I can do it in a matter of seconds on a 6% up hill grade.

What's this money spent in excessive tire wear I've heard about?

I've sure you can find a D60 and D80 on CL with 3.55's. Or you could have mine, nevermind the fact that you'd grenade them on the first run out.

meh only bought 1 set of tires in the 5 years I've owned the truck, and previous set was low on tread when I got em. I try not to do burnouts as tires cost too much $$$

at the time I bought my tires they were $300 each.

Damn, and I thought $150 each was expensive.
Thankfully the tires were new on mine when I bought it.

On a related note, I can do burnouts!

In dirt.
Or in my 76.
