Mine was held in by the shifting linkage on the cross member... Since it snapped off the tranny and cracked the casing to the overdrive unit on the tail of the tranny i dropped it and took it to my dad's tranny guy and he checked out the tranny and replaced the OD unit. He said the OD unit's internals had spun and were out of place.

I heard a squeak that I thought was ball joints and looked and my ball joints are bad and never thought twice about it and now that i broke a u-joint and caused all this damage the squeak is gone lol so now I know what it was but I still have to do ball joints now
