Default Where does this hose go?

Not to sound like a moron but where does the hose from the air cleaner box go? I assume to the valve cover on the passenger side but the plastic piece it plugs into is broken...what is the plastic piece? I bought the truck used and never noticed it was broken. its a 2000 dodge ram 1500 2wd 5.2L. thanks for any help!

Can't see any pictures but it should go from the air box to the driver's side valve cover. To that little elbow that's broke.

The elbow at the back top of the driver's side valve cover. The air hose goes on that guy.

Just to go a parts store and get you a little air cleaner (you'll find them by the 14x3 stuff and other air cleaners) and an appropriate sized grommet and be done with it.

Uh, an elbow.

It's part of the PCV system. The air goes through the air cleaner, down that hose and through that elbow, into the valve cover, and down into the crankcase. From there it goes up into the opposite valve cover, through the PCV valve, and into the intake manifold. With that elbow broken and sucking unfiltered air, you're sucking dust and dirt into your crankcase.

The elbow broke off mine... I just cut it off square, pushed the hose on the stub with a hose clamp, and all has been well.
This is working for now... I'll get a new new one next time placing a parts order.
