backspacing
Im planning on getting some new wheels for my truck how do I check the backspacing eveyone keeps asking how much backspacing the rim should have and Im not really sure exactly what their talking about?
Measuring the backspacing of an existing wheel is pretty simple - lay the wheel down flat on the ground with the back of the wheel facing up. Take a straight piece of 2x4 and lay it across the wheel and then use a tape measure to measure the distance from the back of the wheel hub to where the 2x4 running across the top of the wheel. This will provide you with the backspacing of your wheel.
Hub-centric means the wheels are centered by the hole thru the erm... center, on the hub. Lug-centric implies they are centered by the lug nuts. (tapered lug nuts, and lug holes slightly larger than the studs.....)
