I prefer a razor blade over a putty knife or gasket scrapers, they work better IMO. Do I need to do anything with the clips or just toss them out? (Assuming there not where they're supposed to be.)

Hope that you DON'T find any broken clips...

If you do just throw them away, nothing but paperweights now...

Will resemble something like this and result in a further deteriorating LSD, that could further lock it up.
