I plan on changing the fluid in my rear diff soon and am wondering if the anti-spin rear differential axle is the LSD and if I should add 4oz of friction additive when I change the fluid.

Yes, the Anti Spin Rear Diff is the LSD and yes you should use the required additive to the diff fluid.

Thank you! Any suggestions as to a brand or type? I was looking at this one:

Also should be 2qts of 80w-90 gear oil correct? I looked in the fluid glossary multiple times but couldn't find the quantity for the Chrysler 9.25 rear differential.

seems to me that its about 2-1/2 quarts for rear or front. it should be in the 01 service manual.

yes- you should use the friction modifier, unless you use the very expensive synthetic oil that already includes it. brand doesn't matter - whatever the parts store had is fine.

for gear oil, i like to use the walmart brand in the gallon jug for the affordable price of about $12/gal. however, the gallon jug is impossible to pour in and has to be repoured into quart oil jugs so you can squirt it in. i save the little squirter/nozzle caps from previous jugs of gear oil. i think its offered in the 80/90 and and the 90/140 or similar weights. the $5/quart valvoline stuff at the parts store is awfully expensive.

Yeah I don't think that's possible lol I picked up a gallon of the super tech 80w-90, 7oz of friction additive, and a new gasket for the Chrysler 9.25 rear diff. Should be everything right? I also have a suction gun coming for putting in the gear oil.

that's all you need, other than a drain pan, putty knife to clean the gasket surface. be sure and clean the magnet in the bottom, and don't be too shocked to find broken clutch retainer clips on the magnet. its sort of common. i like to spray the the bottom of the case with brake cleaner to get the gunk out of the bottom.

don't over-torque and break the little cover bolts.

and whatever you do, don't get that stinking-*** oil on your clothes and track it in the house or onto your truck seat.

i broke one of those little oil pump things the last time i tried to pump 90W oil with it. i ended up using a funnel and transferring it into a empty quart jug, and then squirting it in.
