I got lucky with mine. I new I would have some body work but all the salt this season made it worse. Luckily the floors are sold and someone already did the rockers. I need lower door skins, rear wheel openings and new fenders. not the worst list.
I'm planning on finding a new truck as well but, a diesel.
Good luck with your search.
That would be ideal, as I don't think I would be able to physically come and get it.... wonder how much it would cost to have it hauled up here.... Road Trip Vdub?
I could be up for such a thing; however, my schedule would preclude it.
That being said, here's a great thread that discusses auto shippers and the companies people recommend as well as warn others against using: Auto Transport/Shipping Information.
Remember, those are classic car people who are going to be picky as hell about how their purchase is treated during transport. That doesn't make any ride the exception, but IMHO their judgment is The Rule.
I would hazard a guess that shipping a running vehicle from Texas/Oklahoma to Michigan would run about $600-$800. That price covers convenience, taking time off work, airfare to pick up the vehicle, fuel, and negates potential issues were mechanical difficulties to arise on a trip home.
In other words, the shipping fee is cheap insurance and money well spent.
I am looking specifically for a 96 or 97 2500, QC/SB, 360... and probably auto trans. The body needs to be good. The drivetrain can be falling apart. It doesn't even need to run. Just needs to all be there.
