Look at the strut towers REAL good. Im not sure about that year but the gen before it would rust out. Then the strut goes through to the hood. Then you wreck. Then....well, you can figure it out from there.

Can't speak for one that new but we briefly had a '98 Caravan. Besides some fuel issues (aging pump, etc...) it was a good vehicle.

My family had an 05 town and country which is essentially the same thing. It was a fantastic vehicle for 5 years (we bought it new) and never let us down. Shoot we might even still have it if that drunken a-hole hadnt plowed into my dad while he was just trying to turn into our driveway. I think the only thing we ever had to replace was an egr valve or some other emissions related thing on the engine. It was a great van

If book is $3000-$5000 and he is asking $3800 with the things you KNOW are wrong, he is too high. That is what the $3000 on the calue is all about. Go to KBB and read the description about condition very closely. Take a copy with you.

strut towers and rockers are the major rust spots on pretty much every van out there. otherwise great vehicles and should be easy to find parts at the junk yard for them since they are a dime a dozen. i know my uncle is fixing cousin van after he hit a pole and it only cost him about $300 for a new hood, fender and everything else he need to fix it and the parts were even the same color.

I bought a 07 caravan for my wife with 48k on it and by 60k I couldn't wait to get rid of it. It let me down during my grandmas funeral percession, ended up needing a alternator, tcm, and shift solenoid replaced. Thank god it was covered under warranty though. We had a base model and it was just that, very floppy, slow, and cheaply made. The town and country's are way nicer. But that thing would go through front brake pads quick, got rid of it at 79k and had already replaced the pads twice. All that being said it still did everything it needed to do, though the torque converter was shuddering when I traded it in. I would definitely go for a town and country though or the prior body style. My sister has a 98, has had it for 5 yrs, and it has 250k on it.

that tends to say a lot about the driver. i know with the way my mom drives i bet she burns through pads a lot. we will find out soon since she got new pads and rotors not that long ago.

my wife and I had a 2001 grand caravan. we bought it at 60k and traded it in at 150k. the only problems we had were the AC compressor seized and the front brake pads wore pretty fast. I live in CA so rust isn't an issue. If everything checks out I would buy. Hope this helps and good luck.

That generation of Caravans just have really weak brakes, especially the rear, which causes them to burn down quick. Of course i didnt throw and $100 pads on it either.
