Default Squeeling belt...need input

As title says, the belt is squeeling like a bltch at times. Usually does it when damp out. I took some sandpaper to the ribbed side when it was running and it stopped, therefore I thought it to be the belt.

Got a new belt (Gates) put it on and all was good...for about 4-5 weeks. Now this new one is squeeling.

Again I just took sandpaper to the ribbed side and it stopped. But as it did in the past, itll come back in a day or two.

I had put a new tensioner on either last summer or the one prior. Could it be bad and not have enough tension to it? It feels fine, but...

It never did it when I bought the truck, and only started after I had replaced the tensioner and belt. I replaced the tensioner because the old one took a shlt. The squeeling started a few months after.

Im thinking the tensioner is bad again (crap AZ part). Am I on the right path? What is a good brand to get?

Edit to add: Im gonna put a wrench on the tensioner maybe tomorrow and put some more tension on it. I'll see if that helps.

sounds like it...might be dragging or not in good alignment with the rest of the pulleys causing the belts to wear faster...once the coating on the belts are gone they start to squeal...another bandaid to stop squeal is holding a crayon against the belt while its running.. crayon coats it in wax which stops the squeal.

I am a fan of those Goodyear Gatorback belts. Never had one squeal.

My AC Delco belt squealed when it was new so I figured one of the pulleys was bad. Nope, the belt was no good. Gatorback fixed it.

Ok. Sounds like I may get a gatorback belt and another tensioner. I looked at the gatorbacks before I got this Gates, but I didnt like the price. Around $50 iirc.

For the Gatorback:

I guess rockauto is out. The only one I see is 90". Would be without a/c. Need one with a/c and from what I gather is 97".

Looks like the next best is Amazon at $35.

What about the tensioner? Whats a good one?
