Default RPM jump??

OK. I Have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 QC. If I am parked RPM's jump 100 RPM when I let off the gas. It jumps 100 RPM then immediately falls back to where is should.

It does not happen all the time either.

Any ideas>?

Clean the IAC for starters. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-r...n-the-iac.html Disconnect negative battery cable before doing so. Also get a cheap mutlimeter and download the free service manual from the FAQ/DIY section and test the TPS.

Can I just buy a new one and replace it? OR is it more difficult than just a swap and clean of the IAC port?

Just replace what? The TPS? If so you can't clean that. So test it or replace it. If you decide to replace it, also remove the negative battery cable first.

You still clean the port in the throttle body where the IAC installs. And disc. battery. (first)

OK. I will. Can I pick up any IAC sensor from Advanced, Pepboys or Autozone? Or is there a better upgrade make and model?

I recommend getting a Standard Motor Products or one from the dealer. In a pinch the Borg Warner from Advance will do.

Edit: One more thing. After everything is cleaned up and the part(IAC) is installed, and battery is reconnected(last). Turn the key on and off 10 times (without starting the motor). On the eleventh time start it, and you most likely won't have any idle issue's during the pcm relearn period.

No, it's a zman17 thing. I believe it positions the IAC faster. At least for idle.
