what does everyone here use to work on their trucks when hey have to reach those hard spots? i want to remove my TB but cannot reach it. beside being fat i also have an umbilical hernia so steps and leaning over is an issue. i don't mind laying down in the engine compartment but i dont want to damage anything.

what do you guys use?

 

I use one of these short scaffold ladders to work on my truck. Perfect height and it's wide enough to move sideways without falling.

I just use a 5 gallon bucket.

 

Whenever I can and/or need to, I remove the radiator shroud & fan and just climb inside to do any work on the engine. I am either able to put my feet down all the way to the ground, or stand on the crossbar that straddles between both frame rails. I use a step to climb up onto the bumper and swing my legs over the radiator supports.

 

I use a small step ladder, and lay a pre cut piece of plywood across engine and crawl uo and lay across it.....but I am short....

i saw one of those but thought i i would break a ball joint. lol.

 

I use a step stool,and/or a piece of plywood to lay across the engine compartment depending on what I need to reach. I also tend to talk to it a lot (women and children not present).

 

I am not trying to make fun of you but I can't see any way that you could be fat enough to break a ball joint that is designed to support 4000 lbs of weight over the front axle.

 

Whatever you do, DO NOT use one of those plastic milk crate things....dont ask me why....
