Best way to get the fan off is to cut the nut if it is original. Cut it right and you can still send the pump in for core. Then get new fan clutch...

Easiest way is to get the spanner tool or make one (like I did) and use a big wrench. It's not hard.

I've taken the nut loose by using a long punch and hitting right on the edge of the nut. It works but takes a few tries til you get it. Spanner tool is the better way to go but if you don't have one.

Put a big wrench on it and smack it with a hammer. That's what we do at work, works great. Place the wrench on the nut as close to vertical as you can and strike down on the end off it as close to vertical as you can. And remember they are reverse thread.

I've heard this all over, big wrench and a hammer works every time.

You might be able to loosen the nut easy with the belt still on, then take off the belt to remove the fan completely.
