Default wiring/big three upgrade.

i have some wiring that i got for scrap about a year ago and it has been taking up space in my driveway. it almost looks a bit like a dryer cord but is about 20 foot long. lately a lot of people have been asking asking alternator related questions with me suggesting the big 3 upgrade. now this has got me wondering if this wire would work for doing the big 3 upgrade on the cheap. i know it is larger than the 10 gauge. think it might be 8 or 9 gauge wire since my wire strippers cut into the wire with the 10 gauge strippers. the casing says for recreation vehicle use 30 amperes. now i am not sure what voltage the wiring was used with. i figure it must have been 220v since the ampere rating is so low but the wire seems so heavy but not sure. would it be ok to use with 65 amp alternator if it is only putting out 12v?

Voltage has nothing to do with it. Current is what matters.
