downshifting
Eh, sometimes they had the Heavy Duty Service package, which was included IN the Towing Package. But it could be had without it.
And yes, jot down your VIN, go to the service department and they'll pull your build sheet.

You can also get a build sheet from dodge online.

Only ones that came with additional cooler is the ones with towing package.
Service Group- Heavy duty, includes 136-amp alternator, 750-amp battery, auxiliary transmission oil cooler (not available with 3.9L V6 or manual transmission), transfer case skid plate (4x4 models only), and heavy-duty engine cooling (standard on 2500 Chassis Cab)
Dunno....
Trailer Towing Group- Class IV hitch receiver, heavy-duty flasher, and 7-lead wiring connector (Not available on Chassis Cab)
Transmission Cooling- Auxiliary, automatic transmission only (Std on 2500 Chassis Cab) (Packaged)
This is all copied verbatim from the 1999 Dodge Ram brochure.
I was under the impression that ALL autos had trans. coolers, but some had the larger ones added in front of the radiators. And since OP's truck is an SS/T, it SHOULD have that.
At least, I would hope it would.
Erm...idk about that.

That's the towing package. And he doesn't have a Chassis Cab (which does not come with a bed on it form the factory, to be fitted with flat bed or utility bed by Dealer....)
And I DO know what Chassis cab is...I've had the damn brochure since I was 5. lol
