Default 99 Sport aftermarket headlights

I'm looking on eBay for some aftermarket halo lights for my 1999 Dodge Ram Sport. Most of the listings on the ads say "Does not fit sport models" why is this? I understand that the sport models have separate hookups for high and low beams, but why would a headlight that does have separate hookups not work? I was looking at this pair, it looks like they would work but in the description it says "fits 94-01 models EXCEPT sport"

Do the headlights mount different in a sport model? If so where could I buy some that fit?

Thanks

Dalton

I couldn't say for sure if those would work. They look like they should. But those are definitely the best looking projectors I've seen for these trucks.

I'm pretty sure they all say the same thing. lol

If it's got two plugs, I would think it would more than likely fit the Sport. I will say though, the what looks like a lack of replaceable bulbs bothers me a bit...

Link is no good and why are you looking on ebay for headlights? If you want something cheap made in china then that's the place. Not sure what is out there for the second gens but from what i seen it's not anything like a retro fit with quality projectors. The good ones are made but not cheap. $$$

I needed headlights for my 99 sport and went to eBay. The ones I bought said they wouldn’t fit a Sport Model but they did. I did have to remove the top two bumper bolts and loosen the two bottom bolts to make room to get them in.

This is what that shop sells for headlights for a 99 Sport. Bunch of monkey replacement 'bulbs'.

So, the poster is still looking for replacement housings, only now he needs to spend almost 300 USD for lightbulbs? Try again.
I went round with this couple years ago. Bought probably the last set NOS Mopar Sport housings available. EBay. I have the housing part numbers if you want to start looking. Passenger side can find. Driver's, negative.
Built a heavy Hella relay harness, added 100W 9004 Hella highbeams and 9007 NighthawkPlatinum hi-lows, 12ga wiring, ceramic lightbulb connectors. Outstanding. NHPs no longer made. Bought handful of each from somebody closing inventory. EBay.
I have used some of the replacement DOT approved Sport housings made in Taiwan that the body shops often use. Didn't care for the beam pattern, but they work well enough. EBay.
I'm no fan of Chinese anything, but if you know what you want and search exactly, EBay is a good place.
How much difference it makes, I don't know. The factory engineers spent a lot of time placing the reflector surfaces to align with the required filament, exactly. Why cutting the tabs to add a 9007 to a 9004 housing changes the pattern. The filament is in the wrong direction and wrong location. Where/how do those 300 USD 'LED' or 'HID' filaments line up? I don't know, neither does anyone else.
I want the light where it belongs, down the road. A long ways. You can spray a ton of light out of the front of your truck with LED anything. In every direction. I don't want light uselessly sprayed up into the rain or trees and I don't want it 10 ft off my front bumper, especially in snow. At 60mph you have 1/3 sec to solve a problem 30 ft away. Good luck.

As you know sport headlight have four bulbs. Not all the years fender have the big *** hole for the other two bulbs. Easy to solve with a hole saw. And the wiring is the other reason for them say not a drop in fit.
