The hard part about doing the timing set is making sure that everything is lined up and that cylinder 1 is at TDC when doing it. That's what messes guys up.

I didn't line up ****.

I just took off the old chain and gears, aligned the new ones with the key ways the same as the old, and slid them on. I just made sure I didn't move the crank or cam until the new ones were on.

I think that just confuses people.

As kejobe already said, don't line up anything. Take the old off, put the new on, and put it back together.

You can only put the gears on one way, provided you don't move the cam or crank after you remove the original chain you should have no problems.

You might "pre-assemble" the new timing set to be sure the dots will line up, I think it was WhiteNuckle that had a new timing set that was off....

Yup!

I had my b-i-l help when I did the plenum/timing/other crap work.

It really was just slide the old one off, it will slide off in 1 piece, and put the new on.

Check the dots and put it back together.

Pretty good

Did the plenum, timing set, dizzy cap & rotor button, plugs and wires.

BUT the absolute biggest boost in performance came almost a year later when I removed the clogged cat.

I did my plenum a while back now, so I'm going to be diving in for timing set once I get the money.

I replaced my cat BEFORE it clogged.
