Default Is this a good deal for a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT?

I came across an ad for a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT and the selling price is $3,950. I KBB'd it and it's going for what they're asking for exactly. It's very clean, no scratches or cosmetic damage that I can see, interior is very clean, and it has 186,000 miles on it. I also KBB'd what I could sell it for privately, and it said I can get roughly $6,000.

Does anyone know if this is a good deal or if I should pass? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You should drive it and see what it behaves like. Quite possibly it will have the beginnings of a blown plenum (go to the 2nd generation Ram section and find the plenum thread on that) and maybe transmission issues.

Or it may be perfect, but you can use those as bargaining chips.

What's your location?

It does have a lot of miles, but you can't judge a truck by mileage alone.

As dd said, take it for a test drive, do a good visual inspection....

4 grand for a truck with 186K miles? Why does that seem a bit high to me?

Where is the truck, what kind of shape is it in? I have noticed that pricing varies WILDLY by where you are.

If it has been well maintained and everything works. Then that's a fair number and a lot of things may have been replaced already, like water pump, heater core for example.
