Just an FYI for ya, not that it'll do you much good now since you may be looking at getting a rebuild done....but you don't need the entire shift kit to allow for converter charge in park. All you have to do is drop the valve body and simply swap in a new manual valve from sonnax. It's an easy job. If you delete the check valve but dont want the fluid to drain out of the converter at night, then put in a new pressure regulator valve as well. My buddy and I did it in one evening. I have had no problems with converter drainage and the truck behaves exactly as before. The only side effect is that the gear shifter is a bit stiffer when shifting out of park but i'm sure it's just due to a slight size difference in the manual valves or something of that sort. It doesn't bother me in the least.

By replacing these valves in the valve body, you can avoid drilling the valve body and messing with all the little springs and ***** in there. Just something to keep in mind for the rebuild...

Nice. I will keep it in mind but I'm thinking I will go with an HD rebuild and a shift kit.
Might as well since it will be out anyhow.

I'd say get a Stallion Torque Converter, but you probably don't have the money for one of them things, they are, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the BEST torque converter, and the Stallion is a Ford only.

However, they DO make the equivalent for Dodge transmissions, you will want the A518 version

I have done ALOT of research, these T/C are the BEST in the industry, and BETTER than PATCs torque converters, largely because of the bushing design, but granted PATC is WAAAAY better than stock, these though top even PATCs, but they aren't cheap...

FWIW, the trans. shop uses precision converters.

Annd no price on the website, that means I can't afford it. lol

Each one is custom built, and offers 1 free stall adjustment, which is a bonus.

for the Ford's gasser tranny, it would have cost me $1500, but the 460 E4ODs aren't cheap in any way you want to look at it, I'd imagine Dodge trans are cheaper, just ring up precision and see what they have to say. Cant' hurt, they are nice to talk to.

And I just looked at what I think are the available stalls, 2400 rpm?
B1tch please. I need a much lower stall than that. lol

1800RPM is the factory stall for most 4wd autos, IIRC.

They should be able to make a correct stall speed, just call them like I said. Their website isn't necessarily up to date, as I found with most performance parts sites.

Very true about their site not being up to date.

And I was thinking something more like 1600 or so. Dunno why the 4x4's have a higher stall.

There's a reason they have a higher stall, it allows more precise off road operation. Stay with 1800 unless your engine is modified with a cam or extreme intake, which it isn't. Dodge chose 1800 stall for good reason.

Precise off road operation? Wooooow.

That tells me a whole damn lot. The truck is a dog in 4WD. lol I think a 1600 stall with 4LO would be rather spectacular for trailer pulling in the pasture, TBH.
