Default white smoke on start up

I got a 1997 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.9 its got 132,000 miles on it. Recently had to put two brand new heads on due to both of the old ones being cracked. I also put a high volume oil pump on and thoroughly cleaned the engine. Ever since I had that done it now smokes a little smoke when it starts up after sitting for a period of time longer than about an hour or so. The smoke looks white but smells like oil. What could be the problem?

While you had it apart, did you fix the plenum gasket on the bottom of the intake? Tends to suck oil thru there.

How long has it been doing this? Losing any oil/coolant? How long does the smoke last?

How are your driving habits? (ie short or long trips) If you short-trip the truck, I'd take it on a long highway trip (to eliminate excess moisture out of the exhaust system), waiting for a bit afterwards until it's completely cold again, and then crank her back up and see if you get the same results.

Probably just condensation in the exhaust.

Is the smoke comming out of the tail pipe or from elsewear? You said you cleaned the engine, could it be things you used to clean just burning off the block and exhaust?

If its comming out of the tail pipe, are you checking the dip stick consistantly to see if you are gradualy loosing oil?
