Replacing my truck
What year is the truck, and what year truck is the manifold from.
Ported manifold should pick you up a few ponies. Along with the ponies you get from NOT having a blown plenum, should be a nice improvement.

1. Make sure the check valve has been removed from the tranny line in the engine compartment (passenger side by the radiator)...or else the transmission the P.O. put in will be on it's way out in short order
2. Change all fluids (oil, transmission, differentials, transfer case)
3. Do a full tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, O2 sensors, air filter)
That's my short list of things I do when I buy any used vehicle that I plan on keeping....obviously the list is done as money and time allow. If the truck has a bad plenum then you're def going to want to do all those tune-up items and keep a close eye on the catalytic converter if it hasn't been replaced recently. I never trust previous owners on what maintenance they say has been done unless they have receipts to prove it!
