Question 2g 1500 with slide in campers

So how many of you if any, have a slide in bed campers for your 2nd gen v8 1500s? I would like to purchase one before end of summer and had a few questions.

first, what kinda camper do you have... pop up style or just the fixed fully insulated one? How's it handle with the extra load should I consider AAL or will stock suspension be okay? How did your brakes hold up drving with the extra weight on trips, would premium pads and drilled or slotted rotors be a wise upgrade? Should I consider some supporting mods like 4.10s and an SCT tunner(witch I think is soon to next on the mod list anyway) or will the 3.55 get the job done.

Really just looking for some insite, I would hate to drop several grand and find out my truck isn't up to the task. The camper will be on the truck most of next winter as I will be leaving from the Rockey Mtns traveling north to Jackson Hole, north to Bozeman Montana, west to Washington south to Oregon and Lake Taho then east to Utah and then back to Colorado. Ohh, I'll also be pulling two snowmobiles (roughly about 400lbs each)

Depnds on the weight of the camper. If I recall correctly, even the lightest campers were really pushing the 1500 suspension

According to my door jam lable
GAWRfront 3865lbs GAWRrear 3900lbs GVWR 6600lbs
According to google serch
Payload 1,298 - 2,245 lbs Towing Capacity 4,300 - 7,950 lbs.

So something like this is looking the most probable
http://www.rvingplanet.com/models/su...agle-wardrobe/

Length12'6"Width7'0"Interior Height1'0"Dry Weight1,195 lbsFresh Water Capacity22 galsFurnace BTU20,000Sleeps3

So I figure 1195+166lbs for full 22gal water tank, lets give it another 500lbs for amenities + Me165lbs, I'm lookin at about 2026lbs What could be done to the suspension to haul this? Or am I just preventing my suspension from breaking but stressing the crap out of my axles causing more problems?

sorry if this starts to fall under the tech section.

No worries, if you think it belongs there, I'll move it.

Pushing stock payload.

But, I say go for it (if it were me, I would) and get a set of Timbrens. Without the camper you won't know they're there. With it, the Timbrens will help.

I (on more that one occasion) had 3K+ lbs. in the Ram with Timbrens. I'm NOT recommending it, but it took it.

The 1500 suspension is pretty lame, doesn't take much to get significant drop in the back and a raise in the front, kinda scary when you've almost not got enough tire on the ground in the front to steer in the direction YOU want to go...

So I am seeing 4 different Timbren kits, same price, different pictures and part number. Witch one should I go with? or is this just eeny-meeny-miny-mo

Just from the pictures, I guess i would go with the last one just because I can see instalation hardwear included, even though they all say hardwear included.

Search around though. Might find them cheaper.

No problem. Those are the same ones I had on mine. I did not use the spacer though. Just the mount and the hour glass "bump stop".

Install was easy except for one bolt I had to heat to get out. Just unbolt bump stops, bolt Timbrens to mounts, bolt on truck.
