If you want a rust free truck you can forget about buying anything local that's been out of the garage.....ever.....

I'm getting ready to take the 1996 Dodge W1500HD to the new place! 350 mile drive and the last 80-90 miles are in the mountains (Yup I live in the mountains now). Gonna be fun as it will be the longest trip ever that we have made with this truck.

So I gotta get the truck ready for such a long trip.

Adjust carb and throttle cable linkage. Make sure all fluids are up to spec and tires are aired up properly. And give it a much deserved bath.

I've got just about every spare part and tool I could need along as well.

It will be interesting to see what sort of fuel economy I get. Right now it gets 12.5MPG at 55mph. Trip down is mostly 65-70. The ol' BBF got 12.3mpg on the same trip, so I'd hope the Dodge gets something decent. And the 6.7 CTD gets 13.5mpg. Granted it usually has a trailer.

And trying to sell the Furd to upgrade to a 2nd gen Ram dually.

Looking primarily for a V10, but would consider a 24 valve.

Any idea on how much HP/TQ can be added to a 24v with a good tuner? I don't have $$$ to spend on upgrades so I need something that I can expect to run at full power all the time and through mountains. Most of the 24 valves I could afford are at 220K miles. Still in excellent shape.

Gonna be a woods truck until I can find a single cab short bed 2wd dak to put my motor in. Then it will be parted out and the rest scrapped.

Got 19-20MPG @55mph with the MPFI system, but it makes loads more power with the current setup than the MPFI system ever did.

But TBH I see many guys with the MPFI system getting 12-15MPG so I'm not that concerned over it, especially since I'm making better power.
