The Official 2014 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
Got out the door for chores this morning and all the way at the other end of the farm (60 acres mind you with woods and rocks everywhere, I'm in the mountains now), when I notifications galore that many of our clients couldn't access their websites, including a major insurance association website which just sent out emails yesterday for their HUGE annual event (everyone needs to register on their website to attend the event). I tried to access the sites, nothing. It's a big deal to be out like this...
So I had to run ALL the way back to the house and log on to my remote desktop which took FOREVER as my dad was using the internet connection to share a desktop for his work, finally got logged on only to find out that our old hosting provider was performing emergency maintenance on an enormous amount of servers. Thankfully I was able to log on to the server an alternate way so I am transferring the insurance association's website to our new server first then I will being moving others over.
Needless to say I'm pissed. They didn't even email us. I understand emergencies happen fast but still they could have and should have emailed us. Now they don't know when they will be back up. So I'm transferring websites right now. That's well over 20GB of websites, not to mention that their network is sooooo slow right now so data transfer is gonna CRAWL...
Great way to start the day off...

It's lame.
On the bright side it gives you guys something to claim as lame. ROFL
I've done computer/networking for years now and I prefer more hands on style of work, I hate the idea of having a job in IT that requires me to sit at a desk all day.
^^So I was drinking my morning coffee watching two guys with a bucket truck in my hay path, miles from the closest neighbor, no visible roads or highways with two cones out front of the truck, a large men working sign off to the side in hay path, on a mission to maintain the power line right of way (300' from the truck straight down a cliff).
My guess is, their supervisor is subject to check in on their work location, which is why they are parked in a strategic location. It's one of those tree cutting contracts for the utility.
Edit: They actually ran the saws about 5 hours, (and said it was stacked for pickup). I couldn't find it, but I can't scale any elevation drops.
I'm more amused about all the cones and men working signs out in the middle of no-where. K.
