F650 fords have a cummins option which is the same engine in the dodge, except it doesn't say dodge on the valve cover and it has higher hp/tq programming in it from the factory. (and a CAT aka: Caterpillar engine option as well)
the new nissan Titan has a cummins option now (5L v8)
the ones in dodge trucks are an OPTIONAL motor...so no different than the above two...
some bread/milk/delivery trucks run a 4bt cummins in them...they aren't a dodge. lol
many of the big rigs run big cummins motors in them...also not a dodge
you get the idea.

Oh, did I mention the Fords still have that new car smell? The one I drove today only had 5500 miles on it.
Yea you lost me with all this.... (I know the different variety of diesel motors just wasn't sure how it was related to Cummins in Dodge)

Back when the pretend oil shortage was going on my uncle Frank bought a Chevy truck with a diesel engine in it. He could get home heating oil for around $0.17 a gallon gasoline was up over $0.80 a gallon so he would have the oil man fill his furnace tank then transfer the fuel to his pickup.
I knew a lot of folks who were doing the same thing.
Now, Frank had always been a Chevy man, after the model A finally crapped out, he bought his first Chevy pickup and always bought Chevy after that.
When he got the diesel Chevy I think Chevy had just reworked the standard 350 gas engine to be a diesel instead of burning gasoline.
The first year the truck was in the shop more than it was on the road. The second year it did a little better but he truly didn't trust the thing to go any farther than he felt like walking.
The third year he owned it Chevrolet finally admitted there were 'some' problems with the engine and did at least a partial recall on them. Frank got a new engine installed then promptly traded for a big Dodge 4X4 pickup with the Cummings engine in it.
The truck is an '89 if I recall correctly and it is still going to this day. After Frank died my cousin ended up with the truck. No major engine work has ever been done to it but the transfer case and the manual transmission have had to have major work at least twice now.

^^Thinking 3/4 to 1 ton diesels and the Big 3. I have not seen any Powerstrokes or Duramax conversions into a Dodge, (maybe they're out there). K.
