The Official 2014 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
There is a difference in being able to react, and actually having a vehicle that will slow fast enough. How far is going to be far enough? Ever had a motorcycle decide to stop quickly in front of you? They can shed velocity a LOT faster than any truck. Should you give them 200 feet of separation for every ten miles an hour? How long do you think that much of a gap is going to remain open?

I was told there wouldn't be any math.
he got the truck back yesterday, and i must say he got out lucky! truck is in pretty good shape for having been on its side!
i talked to him a bit more about what happened. everything remains true, except it wasnt his front brakes that locked up, it was the rear, which caused him to fish tail, and then completely lost control.
so again, the lady should have stopped. leaving the scene after causing an accident is a pretty serious crime here in NH.
also, he found out that his insurance will not be covering it, because its lifted. the insurance is thru the bank where he has his loan, and he bought it the way it is. so the bank, and insurance company already knew it was lifted, but decided to keep him insured anyway.
so, hes stuck paying for 3-4k in repairs out of pocket.
roof ended up crinkling on the passenger side after they got it back on all 4. took 3 tow trucks to flip it. his dry weight is 9800, so it honestly doesnt surprise me. between the tow bill, and storage at the tow yard it cost him 500 to get his truck back.
truck still runs perfect, but the door skin on the passenger door is completely ripped off. the bed, and front fender is fine, aside from a minor dent on the bed. the passenger doors, hinges, rocker panel, and roof need to be fixed.

I have no idea where in the world you got those two questions.
Care to elaborate a little bit?
First off I've never been to the east coast in my whole life, second off I have no clue how you would have gotten the idea that I put $15,000 into the Ford (which I did NOT)
You got some serious explaining to do before you **** me off totally...
This better not be a hack or rumour going around...

When you're driving 70 MPH in a 9,000lb truck, and plenty of room in front of you but you are following a brand new Mustang and they decide to brake check you, your brakes are working well, and they lock up. At 70MPH the RABS doesn't have a chance to act. Then you go into a skid.
I wasn't following to close. Had the Mustang slowed down normally, even a little agressively, I would have been able to stop. But being a sports car they can stop so agressively that no matter if I am following the correct distance or not, I can't stop fast enough.
No I was not following to close, and I was not distracted. I still have no clue why the farking idiot brake checked me; had I been over 21 (insurance reasons) I probably would have just run right into him instead of skidding out of control for a few seconds. But so far I have an accident free record, considering I'm young and most of my miles have been with loaded trailers. I've had a few close calls and that's where I hope it stays right now.
My point; even at correct distances, when you're driving a truck, things change a bit if some itty bitty car stops suddenly.

Umm, hello, you been drinking a bit too much shine?

Nobody is spreading rumors that you moved to the east coast, your previous post sure as hell read like it was you driving the Ford....
Read your post again and you should see what I mean...
Ignore the PM Stewie, your reply beat my PM but PM will explain why I don't just chill out all the time...
And yes I was driving the Ford truck at the time - only the Ford would weigh 9,000lb. Lol.
I still don't understand the 'east coast' thing or 'put 15K into the Ford'. Enlighten me.

redneck said he knew the guy, then your post with all those "I wasn't following too close, etc..."
I'm confused....
Did you hit someone in your Ford?
I was under the assumption that you were responding to redneck rams post about the Ford with $15k worth of work that was rolled in the ditch the other day. redneck lives on the east coast

Oh gawd... I'm LMAO right now. HAHAHA
Rednecks' and my incidents are entirely separate. LMFAO!
I was responding to your post, not rednecks, I was trying to explain that even following the correct distance things happen.
My incident was entirely different and separate from his, and happened a couple of months ago.
Sorry, confusion my fault.
No I did not hit anyone in our ford. I missed the big overhead sign with inches to spare. Nearly did but spun out instead of hitting them. Scared the **** out of me. Nothing prepares you for spinning out at 70MPH in a big truck...
