The Official 2014 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
We found a hornets nest about the size of a small tire low in a white pine in the mow path. It took 6 cans of hornet spray, then cut the limb off, stuffed it in a 50 gallon trash bag and stuck it in the freezer, (folks make arrangements out of these things). I snuck the gasser up close in case we needed to bail in the cab, but pulled it off with no stings.
Local Folk lore has it that as low to the ground as these nest have been found this year, means a hard winter. Got to check that almanac. K.
Edit. Correct Ham Bone, they shellac the paper nest about 6 times, and mount them in KY. We had a brutal cold winter down to -6 degrees several times, only 3 snows though. Best I recall Va and NC weather run about the same, more sleet than snow. You guys had a rough winter this year.

thats quite a lot of bee killer. people really make ornaments out of tho? never heard of that before.
Who knows what this winter will be like. Here in va it was cold as heck last year and snowed dam near 2 feet in like 18 hours. The summer was rather cool. and last year it was hot. so maybe this winter will be mild? lol
axle swap in 15 degree weather was fun last January

The Farmer's Almanac has a tried and true method for forecasting the weather, and from what I heard we're going to be in for a rough winter. Pay attention to livestock (horses, cattle) to see if those animals are growing their winter coats. That's a telltale sign of when winter will hit.
Big
I have wanted to learn how to weld since I was 13 (maybe younger) and was finally able to make it happen. I enrolled in a summer course (August) at the local Vo-Tech for the Farm & Ranch hobby course that teaches gas, mig, and arc welding; however, no other students enrolled, so it was cancelled. I told the person who runs the program that I would definitely be interested in Tig welding, so I paid the difference and was able to make it into that class. Today was our first session and it was a blast. Once I was able to maintain control and learned how to "read" the heat, I took to it right away.

We're allowed to bring projects from home, so a bunch of my tractor stuff that I've been holding will be going in each week. I progressed quickly today and started attempting to do filler rod work. It kicked my butt, but some more practice and I'll have it.

^Funny stuff............
Probably Gary's going to know this one. What Fstop on my camera do I need to use to stop these wings. I've been using auto, but I can go to the tri-pod and shoot. K.
Well, photo did not work...........It's a humming bird in flight, and trying to stop it's wings

Need a pretty high shutter speed first. Then bump your aperture and ISO accordingly.
Well, I take that back seems the secret is a short flash.

What camera setup are you using?

Twmays........I'm using a 14.1 mega Pixal digital General Image Camera by GE. It has
A +auto , scn, Ascn, S, P, M.
It has a 400x zoom w/ flash (which I may try with my tri-pod. I've gotten some good photos but they get spooked up close). I will adjust and go M for manual on the tripod with zoom, and A for auto. If you have other suggestions thanks in advance. K.

Either way, I've finished the first season of Orphan Black. The scenes where Sarah interacts with her clones are well done special effects and not easily spotted like older TV shows & movies.
