Default whoo nellie ! Bought a 02 4 x 4 2500 V10 Gasser

Ive Been in and out of these forums, with :

95 2wd 5.9,
01 3.9 Dakota Quad,
98 5.2 Ram (still have)

and now just bought a 2002 V10 Gas 2500 Ext Cab with Camper shell, with Hummer rims and 285 tires. It has 123K, leather seats, no power windows etc... wtf !!. Several small (i hope... ! issues) Strange battery hook up, cables issues, water leak from somewhere driver side engine, steering/front end need work, but price was right and i've turned into a 2nd gen groupie ....

Ill post pics soon, but what can i look out for... do first etc.

Thanks, DD in Summervillle SC

I agree with djbucky3 to include all fluid levels. Sounds like the typical attack necessary on Dodge front ends given the history. Congrats on your purchase. K.

Edit............jk.................googled before I posted.

02 is a 3rd gen... No cluttering up the 2nd gen section with 3rd gen pics......

jkeaton, I thought the 2002 2500s still used the 2nd gen body, but the 2002 1500 is a 3rd gen. Is this not correct?

x3: 02 2500 and 3500 are still second gen interior, body, and chassis. However they got improved disc brakes on them, and they did lose some of the better second gen interior features like rear cup holders in the quad cabs...

and unlike earlier second gens, they went to electronic cruise control instead of vacuum cruise control. (at least in the diesels, though the diesels still had vacuum pumps to operate the vent controls and CAD in the 4x4s)

was the last year of the 24v vp44 cummins engines as well before they switched over to the common rail engine in 03.
