Default Guess I'm saying goodbye to the second gen soon

Hey all,

So I've had my 98 1500 for a good 7 years now. She's been good to me and treated me right. But she's getting up there now into the 216k miles range, the quad cab is nice but doesn't offer much space in the back. My bed has taken a serious beating especially after a wet road jack knife incident while flat towing my YJ. And my windshield suddenly developed a huge crack.

So with the wife pregnant with our first child and having come into some money recently, I decided it was time to upgrade to a safer, roomier vehicle to fit the growing family.

Minivan? NEVER!!

Went down to the local Dodge Dealership yesterday with my build sheet in hand for my dream truck. I've never bought a brand new vehicle before, or owned one, so I figured it was time. Of course the dealer tried to sell me one off the lot, but none had everything I wanted. So after an hour of them pressing me to buy something they had in stock they finally caved and placed the order for the Ram of my dreams.

Jet black, crew cab, short bed, 4x4, Hemi, 8.4 unconnect with nav, luxury package, ram box, basically every bell and whistle for the most part. Now I have to wait for Ram to build it.

Congrats,
Now take the engine from the truck and swap it into your YJ and stick around. I don't have a 2nd gen truck anymore either but I have an engine and tranny from one in my TJ so that is why I am here.

Yes Yes they are but it is doable. My Jeep is smog legal but I don't have to be smogged where I live. I know you have to go thru a referee station and they inspect all that you have done plus check to make sure all smog equipment is there. There is a shop in southern Oregon who does these swaps that could do it and make it legal you would just have to get to the inspection station. A lot of hassle I know. Just throwing it out there for you. I use to live down there too. Had a 91 YJ when I lived down there. I was in Monterey at FT ORD before it closed down.

Congrats on your Hemi. I know you will miss your 98. Mine is still kicking. Taking her today to look at an old 22re trail rig. Best of luck with your Hemi. K.

All I get are Toyota Prius ads............what a hoot! IGNORE them! Shoot, finally got a Dodge Ad.
