Default Throttle body flap cleaning.

Just a simple question here. While my truck is running, can I spray into the throttle body and the flaps with carb cleaner?

'Tis better to remove said throttle body to do a proper cleaning as much of the carbon builds up in the IAC port and under the blades. But yeah, feel free to spray it up, it's just kind of a waste.

FYI, I wrote a DIY on cleaning the TB in the DIY section here.

I was going to take the TB off but I just thought it was too much work. And yeah I knew not to let it stall. It made a pretty nice smoke show and I think I actually helped it run a little better.

taking the throttle body off is pretty simple, and is a lot better to do when it comes to cleaning it.

It's the air hat. A couple sensors. 4 bolts and a 50 cent gasket.

Makes it easy to replace the cap, rotor and wires too!

After I did this, it ran a little bit better and would spin the 33" MT's on dry pavement from a dead stop. I don't know why but now it is idling really rough and the check engine light is on and at about the 2 grand mark, I can hear a bad ticking. But it may just be something in my dash because I recently got two 10" Kickers with an 1100w amp and the have some serious bumpage. And yes I can hear it when the music isn't playing.
