Carfax is a gimmick. There is no guarantee that anything has been reported, or if any and all reportable incidents were logged.

oh i know not everything thats happened to it gets reported but it would be nice to see what if anything has happened to it

Independent inspection is about the best you're gonna do. If they won't agree, then walk. But, we're still talking about a 15 year old truck.
