Bigger Alternator?
As the title says I'm looking for a replacement alternator that is bigger.
According to the local Napa my current one is shot. Right now I have the 136 amp alt. it barely keeps up with the snow plow and that was with a brand new battery & clean motor grounds. I know that I need to get a duel battery setup going before the winter (that's in the list for the junkyard).
What I found is that some dodges with efans stock ie Durango or Jeep came with bigger alts...just kinda wondering if any one has used one successfully?
The information I have found online seems to be everywhere on the capabilities of these different alternators.

Check out Nations Starter and Alternator. They might be able to sell you parts to upgrade your current unit. Prices are more than fair and customer service/support are fantastic.

Sorry it has been a while and thank you for the replies but I've got both good and bad news. I got the alternator checked out at two autoparts stores after Napa. One said its within specs and another said it was charging but on its way out according to the load pitch/squeal during the test. MMkay threw it back in and its been working so far...
Bad news is I spent up my money on 98 2500 4wd(well used) and a 03 durango(burnt transmission) in a weekend last month...
Good news is well I got them cheap!
Stupid news I havent thought about the alt in the durango as a candidate for the dd/plow truck
So thank you MedicNathan for bringing that to my attention!

For those looking for the Denso 160 amp alt part numbers.
2001 DODGE DURANGO 5.9L V8
OEM# 56029915AA; 160 Amps
REMY Part # 12329
ACDELCO Part # 3341446
The plug on the main harness for the field wires has to be changed for those with the two stud Denso alts. So there is wiring involved for most, the 98+ trucks might not have this problem. The main output lead should also be upgraded to handle the new higher output.
