Default "Sport" edition

I have a 2001 ram 1500 5.2l 4x4 sport package. Im looking for a center grille guard that mounts to the bumper bracket on the frame. All the ones i found exclude the sport package. Why!! The only difference in the front end i see is the bumper but when you look at other trim packages they look the same under the bumper. I cant figure out whats so different. I looked on other threads but nothing explains exactly whats so different. Anybody know what the difference is????

Because the bumper IS different. I think the mounting brackets may be the same, but, the contours of the bumper itself just won't match up to a guard cut for the stock bumper. You *might* be able to convince one to bolt up anyway, but, some modification WILL be required.

Look at the LMC parts catalog... they should list different parts/part numbers for the Sport model (if applicable).

Do you know of anyone on the forum that had the sport edition that modified the bumper to fit the grille guard? I just dont want to have to do too much modifying to the bumper.

No one that I am aware of......Think I would measure the mounts on a stock bumper, and compare it to the sport, and see if the bolt holes are even in the same place.... Rumor has it, they aren't..... (but, I don't know...)

the sport bumper sticks out, and down a bit further than a non sport bumer. so the bumper would have to have extensive mods done to it for a brush guard to fit.

Heavily modify your bumper or buy a new bumper. Anything is possible with a welder and a big enough cut off wheel
