I cut my teeth on windows 3.0. Wordperfect and some other spreadsheet program I can't remember. I still have 5-1/4" floppies in my file cabinet containing some really cool stuff I did back then. I have nothing now that can retrieve that stuff.

Could it have been Lotus spreadsheets? I believe that was popular back then. I actually still have 5-1/4" floppy drive still sitting around in case I ever need to retrieve something (it has happened).

Yup. I remember having to play with autoexec.bat, and config.sys to make my games work too..... and having to swap them out, and reboot, if I wanted to play something else.

I still have 386 motherboards, 88 pin Ram, and 8 inch floppy drives laying about too...... Though a lot of it has been disposed of. (didn't feel a need to move it all again......)

Hell, I'm so old I'm a Novell CNE, passed test in '93, still have the $5000 in study books. I've run networks on Coax cable. My MCSE is NT track I passed before Windows 98 hit the market. Hell, I've been out of the field longer than most of todays techs have been in it.

I can remember the days of having to use debug to talk machine language to an MFM/RLL controller to format a hard drive. Or how about taking 72 hours to compsurf a hdd before it could be used in a server???

Well everyone wish me luck and cross your fingers..........................Going to try installing the downloaded copy of Windows 7 Home I downloaded and burned onto a disc. If I'm not back on by tomorrow you'll know things didn't work out and that I am waiting for the disc I ordered from Ebay. So everyone cross your fingers and wish me luck that this works.

I started with cassettes, before 5¼" floppy drives, and hard drive weren't invented... straight from tape to RAM (all 64kb of it)... programming was AMSDOS.

Well folks it looks like you aren't going to get rid of me that easy. I got Windows 7 Home Premium loaded and and working. Now I just got to transfer all my stuff from the old hard drive to the new one.
Unless of course one of you can tell me an easy way to transfer all my stuff over.
