Default 1998-2001 OEM Dodge Ram Grille Guard

Hi all,
Please help, there is no information available online about the factory grille guard that fits the 98-01 Dodge Ram grille guard. I purchased one that a guy removed from a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 and I am trying to put it on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, it mounts to the frame somehow and wraps around under the truck and slots must be cut in the plastic valance below. The guy that sold me the grille guard assured me that there were no more brackets left on the truck. He sent one set of L-Brackets that have 2 slots per side, one side mounts to the grille guard and the other side supposedly mounts to the truck. I think I can fabricate a long plate that would be 45.5"L x 3.5"W and the L-Brackets would mount to that, I will do this if necessary, but it seems weird that it came off a 1998 and won't fit a 2001? If anyone has one of these please help, maybe some pics or whatever. Thanks, Phil

Not a sport? If it isn't, then it should bolt right on, if it is, the front bumpers are different.
