That sounds real good. What brand mufflers? I plan on adding hs rockers too. And I'm set on Gibson super truck muffler

If I was going the shortie route, Gibson would have been my headers.

Gibson headers look good actually. Somewhat symmetrical. And I could wrap them. Help direct the heat away from the engine compartment.

Unfortunately, the wrap tends to hold moisture against the headers, and causes them to rust out a lot faster than they would if left bare. While the coatings are expensive..... they actually help the headers retain heat, AND help them last longer. (if done properly.)

So is the 150$ for the ceramic coating worth it and how long will it last. I'd rather be cheap about it. I know you get what you pay for though

Wrapping is really for tight engine bays where there is little air circulation.
We have plenty of room for air to move around the headers, and if you're really concerned about engine bay heat, vent the hood.

I wish I could cowl it but $$$ is king. I may leave it unwrapped as the factory is that way anyways. And heyyou is right because if it's moist out I don't need to be rusting my headers off

Do you want to pay the $150 now, or another $375 (plus gaskets and your time) to replace it all over in a couple of years.

I can understand scrimping on an easy change item, but something that takes more time and effort to change, it usually makes sense to do it right the first time.

As for longevity, guys up north will see greater benefit from stainless and coated than us out of the winter salt.

I've seen comments about plain headers rusting out in a season or two.
Stainless/coated should be good for a lifetime.

But, remember coated is for heat retention, not just corrosion resistance.
