Check for open recalls on your truck. The secondary latch was one of them on some trucks.

Started reading forums in 2004. Ignorance was bliss!!! Can't mention how many "issues" I've created for my truck that it didn't have, ha. Although I've learned a lot, it's similar to grad school where I kind of wish now that I hadn't gone....

I let the wife drive it. Now is has yellow scrapes from the extended cab to the end of the bed on the driver side. Truck is a 96 and the body WAS perfect.

I backed in to a six foot tall, round barrier, at the bank while my wife was 8 months pregnant. I can laugh now but it was not funny then, she let me have it for that bump. I've done other dumbs things but that is the main one.

Hauling 5 tons of hay with a gooseneck trailer on the back of a 1500. Hit a mud puddle pulling around the stack and clawed my way through, but when the front end hit dry dirt the transfer case popped and something shifted.
The rear driveline was suddenly 2 inches too long (front never changed). Lol. Never could find the culprit. It always ate transfer cases after that.

Loaned my truck to my girlfriend once. Watched her back it into a fire hydrant. It put a nice pentastar dent/imprint in the rear bumper (fire hydrants have those 5-sided nuts on them).

Married her a year later.
